New Book Announcement: Gnomes & Ungnomes Poems of Hidden Creatures is now available!
I am happy to be part of this new children’s poetry anthology. My fairy and selkie poems are in good company with over 100 contributors in this beautiful new book! A great read aloud of silly to spine tingling poems about hidden creatures! A bonus for young readers is the search and find of gnomes hidden among the illustrations.
My poems are about spunky fairies that are more tricksters than friendly in the cinquain called “Fairy Mound,” and of Selkies that are different than mermaids and inspired by reading about the half female/half seal creatures from Celtic folklore. For the Selkie poem, I tried a poetry form that was new to me, the Triolet. In future posts, I’ll share more about the writing process and some fun activities to share with young readers.
