Revisiting Acrostic Poetry

I’m just getting home from some wonderful beach time, unpacking piles (I’m an over-packer) and feeling non-vacation reality, slowly moving back into view. I thought I’d keep it simple and revisit Acrostic poetry for my Poetry Friday post.

Also, in a bit of a “poetry telephone game,” I read MaryLee Hahn’s beautiful poem – check it out @ A(nother) Year of Reading and learned she was inspired by one of Audrey Gidman’s June prompt challenges, the word “digging.” The prompt clicked for me too, tired from traveling and still shaking the sand out of my beach gear, “digging” and “sand” got me started. Then I thought about the diverse group of people enjoying the beach and the proverbial grains of sand, like stories, that are abundant and unique to each of us.

Happy Poetry Friday! This week’s round up is hosted by Michelle Kogan, check out her poetry and art, as well as, more Poetry Friday posts.

Sandy, good-tired, and grateful, Jill
